These fabulous antique vineyard tools come from Chanteduc, the home of Patricia and Walter Wells in Provence. Walter loved collecting old tools that would have been used on their farm. This pair was used specifically on wine casks. The auger (pictured on the left) was used for making bungholes in wooden wine barrels.
While the tool on the right was used like a reverse corkscrew to seal a bung or stopper in the hole the auger had made. Note, these have been displayed outdoors in the weather for years so are in rustic, timeworn condition.
