Dating from the eighteenth century, a couture seamstress box featuring many storage compartments inside for all the necessary seamstress tools covered by beautiful straw marquetry lids. Observe the photos to note the beautiful marquetry and style of the piece featuring Louis XVI elements. The marquetry on the lid features an exquisite floral bouquet with a bird resting above. The interior marquetry features several intricate designs including a ship with what resembles a French flag at the top between the blue velvet pin cushions. A remarkable piece of history and craft to delight any French fashion aficionado or as a unique piece to store jewelry. Note the back of the box has elements of straw marquetry missing from wear over time. No key.
