18th century Fréjus olive jar w/ yellow rim 23¾"

SKU: 16488

US$880 US$1,297
This remarkable eighteenth century (possibly earlier) pot is stamped by the makers of Fréjus, France. A rare find, as Fréjus stopped stamping their jars in the 1800s. A lovely patina has developed over time and its deep sunny yellow glazed rim still shines through. This would be perfect to hold a plant or as a special addition to a collection of French pottery.
Note: there is a a tiny hairline fracture that stops midway indicating it was created during its original firing and has been that way for centuries.

Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
Approx. overall 23¾ high x 19¼" diameter x 8¼" interior clearance
