A superb French marriage chest or trousseau chest from the eighteenth century. It is beautifully decorated with red tulips. Woodworm has been treated. In good restored condition. Trousseau chests were traditionally used by unmarried young women to collect and store things such as clothing and household linen in preparation for married life.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
