A superb three-drawer Louis XV period commode featuring a curved crossbow shape and white walnut wood from the Dauphiné (Isère) region. The lovely original bronze hardware features daisy flowers with twisted stems to form the drop handles (called "marguerite" flowers in French). The drawers open smoothly and the side panels are finely carved complementing with a carved apron below.
The top features nicely rounded chamfered corners, and the front sides feature carved indentions resting on outturned cabriole feet. This particular chest of drawers is uniquely deep, making it a fitting choice for linen storage or other items requiring additional depth. A lovely way to add a touch of French to both classic and modern interiors. Note: wormwood marks consistent for pieces of this age. It should be noted some very light restorations of use. No keys.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
