This finely crafted Louis XVI period bergère armchair in painted beech is stamped Nadal l’Aîné (Nadal the Elder), recorded among the accomplished chairmakers of the 18th century. He supplied furniture to the French court and to the Comte d’Artois. Active until 1780, Nadal l’Aîné was renowned for the quality of his craftsmanship and the refinement of his work, making stamped pieces particularly sought after for their strong provenance and enduring elegance. The refined medallion back, fluted legs, and delicately carved details are characteristic of the Louis XVI style, offering a balanced and graceful silhouette.
The chair has been fully restored using traditional methods and upholstered with high-quality materials. It is covered in a vibrant yellow fabric adorned with floral motifs, a striking and joyful feature that brings warmth, light, and personality to any room. The upholstery is finished with a contrasting red decorative trim, enhancing the overall elegance of the piece. The generous seat cushion is removable and fitted with a zip closure for ease of care and practicality.
A beautifully restored and comfortable armchair, perfect as a reading chair in a bedroom or study, or as a colorful accent beside a console or small writing table. It offers both historical interest and comfortable daily use, while bringing a luminous touch to any interior.
