A beautiful French Provincial walnut farmhouse dining table from the 18th century. The plank top displays a warm walnut tone and a lustrous patina acquired through generations of use and care. Each short end carries a very deep drawer with a simple wooden knob. Four turned legs are joined by low stretchers, including one on each short side. This sturdy construction precludes seating at the ends, making the table best suited to eight guests, with four seated along each long side. The table is slightly lower than modern standards and is best paired with lower-profile seating to ensure ample legroom.

This honest country form reflects the enduring influence of Louis XIII turning vocabulary in provincial furniture of the later 18th century, when rural workshops favoured robust construction and practical design. Walnut, prized for its rich colour and durability, lends the piece both strength and refinement. Marks of age and use are consistent with its history and contribute to its authentic character.

Ideal in a country kitchen or dining room, the table pairs beautifully with rush-seated ladder-back chairs, upholstered seating, or an eclectic mix of both. It can also serve as a library or display table, bringing warmth, patina, and a sense of permanence to contemporary interiors.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
