A Limoges porcelain handled serving bowl by Tressemanes and Vogt, molded in luminous white with a scalloped rim, beaded border, and sinuous scroll handles terminating in foliate thumb rests. The basin rests on a waisted foot with an undulating edge that echoes the rim, giving the piece a balanced, airy silhouette. The glaze is bright white with a soft sheen that highlights the relief decoration. Light utensil marks to the interior, a few tiny kiln specks, and minor surface wear and faint staining consistent with age, all contributing to its charming antique character.
Produced in the early 1900s, this example belongs to the firm’s “Century” model, patented in 1901 as indicated by the stamp. Tressemanes and Vogt of Limoges were active as decorators and exporters of porcelain from 1892 to 1906, known for finely made wares combining precise molding with refined finishing. The bowl reflects the continued popularity of Rococo-inspired forms, with flowing contours and delicate applied details.
Equally suited to a dining table or console, it can present fruit or salads, or serve as a refined cachepot. It pairs easily with both classic and contemporary settings, adding a touch of understated elegance.
