An early twentieth century Portrait of a man by Mathilde Frances (1879 - 1964).

Pastel on paper framed behind glass.

Frances was born in Saint-Pons and died in Montpellier. She was known for her portrait and landscape paintings. She was a student at the Ecole des B eaux-Arts, Montpellier and studied in under Jean-Paul Laurens. Her works were exhibited in Paris at the Salon des Artistes Francais of which she became the secretary in 1922.
