This Art Deco 21-piece dinner service was made by the MLV Manufacture in Limoges, France, between the 1930s and 1950s. Crafted in fine white hard-paste porcelain, each piece has gently scalloped, lobed rims highlighted with hand-applied gold for a subtly luminous effect. The set comprises six dinner plates, six soup plates, a covered vegetable dish, a sauce boat on its underplate, and seven serving bowls or dishes of varying sizes. All pieces are marked MLV France on the underside. Light wear and rubbing to the gilding in places and a few signs of use. Two plates display fine, stable hairline cracks
Elegant and versatile, this service layers beautifully with antique crystal and silver for a formal dining table, or it can bring a note of warmth to a contemporary setting with its soft gold accents. When not in use, the scalloped profiles display attractively in a glass-front cabinet or on open shelves, adding quiet French refinement to a kitchen or breakfast room.
