An1930s wall-mounted coat rack in hand-forged iron, featuring exuberant scrollwork and richly hammered detailing throughout. The structure is composed of a rectangular upper rail and projecting armature, supported by two arched brackets formed of sinuous, interlacing volutes. Each surface bears a hammered finish, lending a rhythmic, dimpled texture that enhances the interplay of light across its surface. Four robust scrolled knobs extend from the upper part and two more from the lower part, each terminating in tightly wound spiral ends resembling blooming roses — a poetic detail that merges form with function. The backplate is further adorned with a decorative crest of symmetrical scrolls, enhancing the visual rhythm and tying together the piece’s aesthetic language.
Inspired by the elegant ironwork of Gilbert Poillerat (1902–1988), this piece reflects the Art Deco spirit of the 1930s, blending geometric precision with refined craftsmanship. Ideal for an entryway or mudroom, it serves as both a utilitarian coat rack and an eye-catching architectural element.
