A sculptural 1950s floor lamp by Jean-Pierre Ryckaert, forged in dark patinated wrought iron. The design rests on a circular ring foot supported by three arched legs, rising to a slender shaft secured with two riveted leather straps that introduce a warm caramel tone and tactile contrast. The stem curves into an elegant scroll supporting a shallow dish and a candle-like sheath beneath a simple shade. The Brutalist character of the ironwork is softened by hand-forged curves and the subtle interplay of metal and leather.

Jean-Pierre Ryckaert (1912–1997) was a Belgian master blacksmith celebrated for revitalizing traditional wrought-iron craftsmanship in the mid-20th century. Working at the intersection of sculpture and functional design, he is known for his architectural commissions, lighting, and decorative objects that combine medieval forging techniques with modernist and Brutalist forms. His work was widely commissioned in Belgium and France and is recognized for its structural clarity, expressive curves, and exceptional hand craftsmanship.

The lamp is in very good vintage condition, with a richly timeworn patina to the iron, light surface oxidation consistent with age, and minor wear to the leather straps. The faux candle is not fixed to the metal base and shows a gently aged patina. The shade can be easily removed or replaced to suit individual tastes or interiors. Placed beside a club chair, it creates a focused and atmospheric reading light, while in an entry or living space its sculptural silhouette sets a refined, grounded tone. The wrought iron and its simple, medieval-inspired forms pair naturally with stone, wood, and natural linen, making the lamp well suited to both contemporary and rustic interiors.
