This tall French concrete jardinière, dating to the 1950s or 1960s, features a sculptural hourglass form with a flared rim and foot, the vertically fluted body cinched by a molded ring. Cast in white-tinted concrete with soft gray toning and a naturally mottled surface, it has a weathered patina with light wear, lichen traces, and minor edge chips but remains structurally sound.
Translating classical fluted profiles into mid-century concrete, it embodies the postwar French garden aesthetic. For interiors or garden rooms, it serves as a striking focal point when planted with boxwood, olive, grasses, or seasonal flowers. On a terrace or at an entry, a single piece commands attention, its neutral palette and classical geometry pairing effortlessly with stone paving, zinc planters, and weathered wood to complement both traditional and modern architectural settings.
