This mid-century low armchair, attributed to French designers Adrien Audoux and Frida Minet and dating from the 1950s, combines a light, honey-toned wooden frame with a woven natural rope seat and backrest. The thick cord forms an open lattice pattern, with generously wrapped edges that emphasize its artisanal construction. Gently curved wooden armrests rest on rounded front supports, decorated with subtle turned rings, while the tapered legs give the chair a light, balanced appearance. The rope has developed a mellow, slightly uneven patina, with some darkening and light fraying, particularly across the seat. The wooden frame shows gentle wear, small knocks and areas of finish loss along the armrests, all adding to its relaxed, lived-in charm.
Combining the clean lines of mid-century design with the warmth of natural materials, this armchair has a lovely relaxed, slightly bohemian quality, with a hint of Mediterranean charm. The open weave gives it an airy appearance, while the generous ropework brings plenty of texture and personality. It would be particularly appealing in a sunny garden room, or as an occasional chair in a coastal vacation home. Its simple, expressive design would also work beautifully in a modern, pared-down interior, bringing a more artisanal touch. Width between armrests is approx. 46cm
