1950s Pair of French sculptural crystal vases

SKU: 17198

A pair of striking sculptural crystal vases made in Vannes-le-Châtel in the mid-twentieth century. Their unique molded shape with dense bulbous details was inspired by the head of a giraffe. The maker ‘Art Vannes’ is marked underneath.

This pair would be a lovely compliment to a living room or dining room decoration by adding symmetry to a table decoration with a touch of French charm.

Vannes le Chatel. A glass house which began in 1765. In 1970 became part of CFC, Cie Francaise de Crystal (which owns Daum) Vannes produces Cristal de Sevres. After financial problems, in 1991 it became part of CERFAV the European Centre for Research and Training in Glassmaking, using support from the European Union. Produces tableware and art glass.

Note due to their hand-made nature, one is slightly darker beneath, and we've used this one to photograph the signature mark. The photo with the mark looks darker than the glass does in real life. This reflects a photo technique using less light to be able to increase the readability of the mark. Please refer to overall photos for realistic glass coloring.

Light wear.
