1950s Sculptural Venetian Mirror w/ Engraved Floral Décor - 38½" x 26"

A charming Venetian engraved mirror from mid-20th-century Italy, the glass richly decorated with wheel-engraved bouquets adorning the central plate and echoed in the crest and lower terminal, each bound with delicate ribbon. The mirror is set within a flamboyant Rococo Revival frame of gilt brass with scrolling cresting and cartouche-like terminals. The glass displays beautifully mottled foxing and silvery blooms that gently soften the reflection, while the gilded surface has mellowed to a warm, honeyed tone with light rubbing to the high points. 

Venice has been renowned for glassmaking since the seventeenth century, uniting refined craftsmanship with bold, sculptural forms.
