This terracotta jardinière from around 1950 is shaped in the rounded, generous form reminiscent of a traditional Biot jar, with soft curves and a substantial rim. The surface displays a remarkable natural patina of moss and lichen in shades of gold, grey, and soft green, giving the piece an earthy, timeworn beauty that evokes traditional gardens and sunlit courtyards. The base includes a drainage hole, making a saucer advisable for indoor planting.
Whether placed on a terrace, in a garden room, or used indoors as a sculptural accent, this jardinière brings quiet character and a sense of provenance to any space. It is ideal for housing herbs, flowering plants, or a leafy specimen, though it is equally striking left unplanted as a decorative object. Its richly weathered surface, alive with layers of moss and lichen, lends a natural poetry that softens and enriches its surroundings.
