This 1954 French agricultural prize plaque is a fine example of rural craftsmanship and heritage, awarded at an agricultural competition in Mayenne in northwestern France. Cast in aluminum with finely raised lettering, it commemorates a second-place award in the category for Normande heifers aged 12 to 24 months. The surface shows a soft, weathered red finish with traces of oxidation that highlight the lettering and contours beautifully. The original loop at the top remains intact, allowing for easy wall mounting.

Its authentic patina and timeworn texture give this piece a rustic elegance that makes it ideal for display in farmhouse kitchens, garden rooms, or anywhere a touch of vintage French character is desired. Once used to showcase a breeder’s success on the walls of barns or stables, this plaque now serves as a decorative relic of France’s proud agricultural tradition. It can be hung on its own or grouped with similar plaques for a charming layered display. Additional plaques are available for collectors or decorators seeking to build a unique wall ensemble.
