A sculptural freestanding desk in richly figured teak, designed by Svend Aage Madsen for H. P. Hansen in Denmark around 1960. The top features a subtly concave front edge with a raised rear lip, creating a refined and ergonomic profile that is both elegant and practical. One side of the desk is fitted with four drawers, while the opposite side combines a single drawer above a cabinet door for additional enclosed storage. On the rear, the desk is beautifully finished and features a discreet pull out shelf, offering a practical surface without adding visual weight. The pulls are softly shaped and understated, echoing the desk’s clean lines. Round tapered legs lift the piece lightly from the floor, allowing it to read as elegant and architectural. Finished throughout in a warm, even tone, the desk shows light surface wear to the top consistent with careful use and remains in very good vintage condition. Maker’s stamps appear on the drawers, confirming its authenticity.
