This French wrought iron garden suite, dating from the 1960s–1970s, comprises a round table, two side chairs, and two armchairs. The table is fitted with a perforated top decorated with trefoils and small round openings, echoed in the perforated seats of the chairs and armchairs. Each chair back is formed with a heart-shaped scroll motif, while the armchairs feature wide open arms that round the seat and gracefully mirror the sweep of the legs. All pieces rest on deeply curved cabriole-form legs that give the set an elegant lightness, while the table is further distinguished by its decorative volutes that provide strength and ornament. The surfaces display an attractive timeworn patina consistent with long outdoor use, showing traces of layered pale green and cream paint over oxidized iron.
Finely crafted and robust, the suite is sturdy yet highly decorative, with handmade ironwork that balances strength and elegance, designed to weather gracefully in the garden This suite invites placement on a stone terrace, in a conservatory, or beneath a pergola, where its soft color and patina resonate with greenery and aged masonry. Use it as a breakfast corner in a sunroom or kitchen, paired with simple linen cushions and terracotta planters.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
