These wall or ceiling lights date from the 1970s and reflect the quiet precision of German lighting design. Produced by the Putzler manufactory, they feature a rounded, porthole-like form with a satin brass–toned frame and a domed frosted glass shade that discreetly conceals two light sources. The frosted glass diffuses a clear, even white light that is bright yet comfortable, while the restrained geometry and solid construction speak to an era when functional fixtures were designed with durability and understated elegance in mind. The lights retain their original maker’s labels. They are in very good vintage condition, with a warm patina and minor surface wear to the brass, including small oxidation speckles; the glass shows only light wear.
Equally suited to wall or ceiling installation, these lights bring a calm, architectural presence to interiors. Their timeless design allows them to blend effortlessly into both contemporary settings and more layered, classic interiors. Their bright yet softened light makes them particularly well suited to bathrooms, while their clean, nautical-inspired profile also works beautifully in hallways, in bedrooms on either side of a bed, or in hospitality-style spaces. Install several in sequence along a corridor to create a sense of rhythm, or place them in separate rooms for a cohesive look throughout the home.
