An elegant painted and gilt table lamp in the Rococo revival style, crafted from gessoed wood with openwork scrolls and a central floral motif, conceived as a decorative evocation of an antique form. Red and blue paint applications are integrated with the gilding, recalling the depth and richness of historic bole finishes while enhancing the sculptural contours and theatrical presence of the piece. Likely crafted in Italy in the 1970s or 1980s, the lamp shows light wear and small losses to the gesso at the edges, adding character without detracting from its bold yet refined appearance. It is topped with a custom-made blue and white striped shade, designed specifically for this lamp, making it a striking and expressive accent for both classic and eclectic interiors.
Place it on a console, bedside, or writing desk to lend warmth and gentle shimmer. The tailored striped shade freshens the ornate silhouette, making it as at home in a coastal setting as in a classic room with paneling and stone. Pair with a mirror or a stack of well loved books to anchor a vignette, and let the lamp’s soft light and layered gilding bring a collected note to any space.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
Must be rewired and installed in accordance with local electrical requirements.
