This large Italian table lamp from the 1970s features a sculptural stacked-gourd form set on a broad stepped base. The ceramic body is finished in high-gloss silver lacquer with gold-toned bands, creating a striking silver-and-gold palette with mirror-like reflections. It is unmarked and remains in very good condition, showing only light surface wear to the metallic finish and gentle age to the brass.
The bold yet glamorous silhouette reflects Italian taste of the 1970s for dramatic shapes, gleaming surfaces, and luxurious mixed metals. Statement lamps of this kind appeared in some of the most stylish interiors of the era, and Brigitte Bardot famously owned a similar example.
Impressive in scale, the lamp makes a dramatic focal point on a console, credenza, or side table. Its reflective finish brings sparkle, glamour, and mid-century allure to both classic and contemporary rooms, while a well-chosen shade can soften its bold presence.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
Must be rewired and installed in accordance with local electrical requirements.
