19th Century blown glass magnifying loupe for a lacemaker

This rare 19th Century French magnifying loupe was used by lace-makers. From what we can decipher, the vessel was filled with water, and by candlelight the lace-maker looked through the glass to a magnified version of their lace work. Hand blown glass.

Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
