This superb oil on canvas still life dates from the nineteenth-century. A floral bouquet sits in a vase as though the flowers have been freshly cut from the garden, there is a beetle and fly (on the upper peony) adding a lovely detail. The pale pink peonies are luminous and the tulips have graceful petals.
This painting has been cleaned and the surface has a leathery timeworn texture.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
