Pair of 19th century French blown glass garden cloche domes 18½"

An extremely rare pair of blown glass garden cloches dating from the nineteenth-century. These could be transformed into suspended light fittings or displayed on a console. They were originally used in one's potager as a portable glass house to help vegetables (lettuce, melons etc) to ripen and to protect them from rodents. Some wear - refer to photos.

Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
