19th-century French commode w/ drawer - walnut

SKU: 18470

This relatively low-standing console / sauteuse commode dates from the nineteenth century, (in an eighteenth century style). It is evocative of a perruquier - a piece of furniture used for storing wigs, with a mirror behind for fitting. The wood is walnut - beautifully carved and of great quality - note the dowel joins. This would make a beautiful nightstand between single beds. Woodworm is present and has been treated. Ongoing treatment may be required with a suitable product.

Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
Approx. overall 27¼" high x 30" x 17"
Approx. overall 69cm high x 76cm x 43cm
