This 19th-century French copper pot is finely shaped with a flared rim, wide base, and upright loop handles. Made using traditional riveted construction, it remains watertight despite an early repair, likely executed during its period of use. The interior shows typical signs of wear from holding water rather than being exposed to open flame, suggesting it functioned as a water vessel rather than a cooking pot.
A decorative band encircles the base of the body, featuring stamped motifs of wheat sheaves and central floral elements. These patterns are both ornamental and symbolic, referencing abundance, fertility, and domestic life. The surface has developed a warm, timeworn patina with subtle hammer marks visible throughout. With its elegant proportions and understated detailing, this piece reflects both the utility and aesthetic care present in 19th-century French household wares.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
