This tall two-door cupboard in warm fruitwood dates to the 19th century and has been entirely sanded, retaining a softly weathered surface with visible signs of age to the top and lower sections, and areas that still show faint traces of earlier green paint. The form is simple and well balanced, featuring a molded cornice, shaped door panels, a scalloped apron, and wire-mesh fronts that give the piece a light, breathable presence. The cornice, wire mesh, and fixed shelves are later restorations, thoughtfully executed to respect the character and proportions of the original. The doors close with a working key and open to three fixed-height shelves set within a soft brick-red painted interior.
Well suited to kitchens, dining rooms, or garden rooms, the cupboard offers generous and practical display for ceramics and glass, or airy storage for pantry use. The wire-mesh doors add texture and transparency, lending an easy French country or farmhouse look. Substantial in scale yet visually light, it anchors a wall without feeling heavy.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
