An elegant French buffet from the19th century, crafted in warm-toned mahogany and topped with a heavy dark charcoal marble slab that rests securely above and slightly overhangs the sides. The piece is distinguished by its notably narrow and refined proportions, making it ideal for a hallway or entry where it offers presence without bulk. The clean-lined form is defined by fluted corner pilasters, recessed panel doors, and tapered legs with brass hoofs. The marble retains a soft honed sheen, while the mahogany glows with a rich, even grain. Inside, the shelves are lined with Provençal-style paper. The original lock is in working order, though the doors need to be gently pushed to engage smoothly.
Its restrained neoclassical lines and dark marble top convey a composed elegance. This is beautifully balanced by the warmth of the mahogany’s lively grain and softly timeworn patina, bringing a quietly chic mood to an interior, ideal as a slim storage piece or understated focal point in a passageway.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
