19th century French olive jar w/ orange rim 14½"

SKU: 16487

US$554
Uniquely crafted with four ear" handles instead of two, this lovely Provencal olive jar would have been used in the late 1800s to store olives or olive oil. Because of the layers of olive oil over centuries of use, there is a natural oily residue. It has a lovely deep cinnamon orange glaze around the rim and would be the perfect to hold a small plant or as a shining addition to a collection of French pottery. It is in its original state and no drainage hole has been added to the bottom for flowers.
