This 19th-century French apothecary jar is a clear glass jar with a tin lid, labeled "Flores Sambuci N:," referring to elderflower. In historical pharmacy use, elderflower was esteemed for its anti-inflammatory and diuretic properties. It was commonly used to treat respiratory issues like colds, flu, and sinus infections, as well as for its ability to promote fluid balance and detoxification in the body.
