A large and rare nineteenth-century Italian heroic cast bronze bust of Ajax. Note the lovely verdigris patina There is a brass plaque on the front of the square base which reads "AJAX", and a small stamp on a left corner of the base. It is raised on a round socle and square plinth. 
Ajax, a significant figure in Greek mythology, was a valiant warrior in Homer's "Iliad." Known for his size, strength, and bravery, he played a crucial role in the Trojan War.
