An elegant 19th-century neoclassical music shelf in richly toned mahogany veneer, distinguished by slender splayed legs and stepped tiers that create a light, graceful profile. The top is inlaid with a subtle starburst marquetry motif, while the gently arched back is centered with a pale green Wedgwood-style biscuit cameo depicting a classical scene in low relief, framed by finely cast gilt mounts. Vertical dividers below provide structured storage, reinforcing the piece’s original function of holding music sheets in order. The shelf is in very good condition, with minor surface marks and gentle wear to the veneer consistent with age.
Warm wood tones and poised lines bring a composed, collected atmosphere to a living room, bedroom, or study. It can be placed beside a reading chair as a refined side table, with the lower compartments neatly accommodating magazines and books, or set in an entry to organize mail. Its balanced proportions also make it an appealing bedside piece, offering both elegance and practical storage.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
