This captivating portrait of a medieval knight from the nineteenth century retains its rich oil paint colors on canvas. The figure is depicted with a red garb over his mesh "mailles" metal armor. The color red can be seen as a symbol of glory, and in the Middle Ages, clothing was expensive, and red, green or yellow colored clothes were reserved for the rich and therefore also for knights. This portrait would make an attractive addition to a gallery wall or to add a bit of colorful history and charm to a moody study.
