19th-century Provençal jam jar w/ orange glaze 4¼"

SKU: 17037

US$182
Dating from the end of the nineteenth century, a charming Provençal glazed terracotta jar with bright orange glaze. Likely used for jam or honey, note the intentional indention beneath the rim of the jar to hold string in place and made it easy to tie a cloth lid to the top. This lovely little pot would be a perfect addition to a collection of French pottery on the table to add a touch of France to your home. It could also serve as a petit flower vase in a powder bath. If using for flowers, be sure to place a container inside the pot first. Note the small chip on rim as seen in photos.

Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
