A Rococo Revival giltwood mirror of refined proportions, mid to late 19th century. The central plate is set within a richly carved frame of rocaille C-scrolls with pierced openwork, a scallop shell crest flanked by floral sprays, and a central cartouche at the apron. The openwork carving is inset with small mirrored plates, adding sparkle and depth. The gilded gesso on wood has a soft, luminous tone. The main mirror plate has likely been replaced and remains clear and fully functional. Very good condition, with gentle wear to the gilding at the high points and minor nicks consistent with age.
This piece brings warmth and movement to a room. Placed above a mantel or console, it reflects light and subtly expands the space. The clarity of the mirror plate also makes it well suited for use in a bathroom or dressing area. It sits naturally within traditional interiors yet also offers a striking contrast in more contemporary settings, where its fluid carving introduces depth and character.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
