A Provençal cheese cabinet from the early 20th century, crafted in beech and walnut with a gently arched cornice and scalloped apron. The single door features a wire mesh upper panel and a solid lower panel, a traditional design that allowed air circulation while protecting stored cheeses and other foods. The original mesh contributes to the cabinet’s rustic country character. The surface shows a rich, textured patina in warm honey and walnut tones, with visible grain, hand worked surfaces, and numerous old wormholes that have been treated, all adding to its authentic provincial charm.
Inside, the cabinet opens to several fixed wooden shelves offering generous storage. The interior shows the same warm aged wood with attractive wear from long use. The door retains a working lock and key, though the lock appears to be a later replacement that now ensures practical function. Overall the cabinet remains sturdy and full of character, with a beautifully rustic presence that reflects the charm of traditional country furniture.
Ideal in a kitchen, pantry, or garden room, it brings warmth and authenticity to modern interiors. Use it as a pantry, or to house linens, stoneware, or glassware, letting the mesh offer a glimpse of texture within. Its modest stature slips easily beside a farmhouse table or under open shelves, pairing beautifully with confit pots, woven baskets, and pale limestone floors.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
