These two somber, yet calm paintings date from the eighteenth century. Both are composed of two figures, possibly all women, tending to birds.

In the first, a seated woman in quiet contemplation rests a slender hand on the cage of a baby black crow, while just visible in the background a woman peers at her in a concerned or attentive manner.

The second painting shows two figures in quiet concentration tending to the wing of an alert white dove. The composition is graceful and reveals the breast of the woman closest to the viewer. Beautiful golden and red fabric is draped across her.

Both paintings have a pensive mood and are painted delicately in beautiful deep colors. Oil on board. Some minor repairs have been made. Modern gold frames are also available and will be sent with the paintings if desired (see last photo).
