This lovely blue and white glazed earthenware plate dates from the twentieth century and features a pretty bird in the center. Note the masterful hand-painted details in close-up photos. This would make a lovely decorative element to add a touch of French charm to your kitchen walls or shelves. Signed on reverse "A Montagnon J. M." (after Jean Montagnon) with their iconic green bow.
The Montagnon earthenware factory, located in Nevers, France, was until 2015 the oldest operating family-run earthenware factory in France. Four generations of master earthenware makers succeeded one another. Antoine Montagnon bought the factory in 1875, and he was succeeded by Gabriel Montagnon, then Jean Montagnon, and finally Gérard Montagnon in 1978 to the present day. The factory stopped production in 2015. The green knot, the hallmark of the brand, was designed by Signoret.
