This vintage Moroccan haik blanket from the 1970s is handwoven in wool and cotton, its surface alive with the tactile irregularity of traditional loom work. Broad, rhythmic stripes in deep navy, coral, and brick are softened by notes of pale gray and muted green, the palette shifting subtly across the length of the textile. The weave is supple and fluid, yet richly textured, with small variations in density, color saturation, and alignment that reveal the weaver’s hand. Finished with fringed ends, the cloth retains a quiet physical presence that invites touch as much as it does visual appreciation.
Once worn as a traditional wrap and household covering by Berber communities, these textiles were woven for everyday use, with subtle variations that make every haik a singular piece.
Drape it across the foot of a bed, layer it over a sofa, or use it to dress a table for an informal, lived-in setting. Its generous scale also lends itself beautifully to use as an airy curtain clipped at a doorway, a relaxed wall hanging, or folded over a bench to introduce warmth and depth. Whether styled in a coastal home or a collected interior, this one-of-a-kind textile brings a sense of ease, texture, and quiet travel-worn elegance.
Note: As a result of their handwoven construction and utilitarian origins, haiks naturally present irregularities and imperfections that underscore their authentic charm, with gentle signs of age that further enrich their character.
