A charming antique garden table dating to around 1900, featuring a circular white marble top with soft grey veining resting on an elegant cast-iron tripod base. Richly cast with scrolling acanthus ornament, the three supports converge around a turned central finial before flowing into slender cabriole legs with curled feet. The base has been repainted green at a later date, providing a pleasing contrast to the crisp white marble.
The marble top simply rests on three small locating pegs and is not secured to the frame, a detail that may suggest it was paired with the base at a later date. A slight bend to one leg is visible from certain viewpoints, a minor imperfection consistent with age and outdoor use.
The marble top has a soft polished finish and displays a few minor scratches and small stains commensurate with age and use. Overall, it presents beautifully with a smooth surface and attractive natural veining.
Equally at home indoors or out, this charming table lends character wherever it is placed. Its generous marble top makes an inviting setting for intimate meals for two in a kitchen corner or on a sheltered terrace, while its sculptural silhouette works beautifully as a side table beside a sofa, topped with a large lamp, a stack of books, and treasured objects. The crisp white marble and green-painted iron create a timeless combination that complements both country houses and contemporary interiors, bringing a touch of European garden elegance to any space.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
