A small antique salt and pepper set, dating to around 1900 and made in France by Christofle, bearing the house hallmark. Each shaker combines a lobed, oval clear glass body with a stepped circular silver-plated base. The glass rises in vertical fluting and gently tapers to a top pierced for seasoning, while the mounts curve softly and catch the light along a neatly turned rim. The surfaces show a soft silvery bloom, light wear to the plating, and faint clouding within the glass, overall presenting a graceful patina and a pleasing balance in the hand.
Founded in 1830, Christofle established a reputation for exceptional silver and silver plate, supplying royal households, grand hotels, and fine dining establishments across Europe and beyond. Pieces such as this embody the house’s commitment to quality, uniting elegant design with durable craftsmanship suited to both formal service and refined daily use.
