Antique French 18th century floor lamp / "Bougeoir Eglise" 55"

SKU: 16370

This lovely rare silver gilt floor lamp is made from an eighteenth century church candlestick. The silver gilt finish is rare as typical church decoration at the time was made of gold or gilded materials, not silver gilt.

This piece would have been seen in a church in the 1700s as a "bougeoir" or tall decorative candle stick. It has been "lamped", or converted into a floor lamp, using French electrical standards. This would be a perfect way to add a touch of French charm to your home.
