An antique French blown-glass cider pitcher from the living room at Chanteduc, this elegant piece has long been part of Patricia Wells’ vintage and antique glassware collection. Hand formed in clear verre soufflé, or blown glass, it shows the gentle irregularities of true craft: a softly flared neck with a pinched pouring lip, an applied handle with a comfortable curve, and a reassuringly weighted base. The surface catches the light with fine ripples and the faint bubbles that come with age, giving it a clean, luminous clarity. “This pitcher is great for serving water at the table,” she explains. Fill it with chilled water or cider, or slip in a handful of olive branches for a fresh note on a sideboard or garden table. Its clarity and provenance make it an effortless companion to everyday meals and relaxed entertaining.
