An antique blown glass cider pitcher from the salon at Chanteduc, part of Patricia Wells’ vintage and antique glassware collection. Hand blown in clear glass, it shows the maker’s touch in the generous pouring lip, an applied handle with small gathers at the joins, and gentle ripples with the occasional tiny bubble. The profile is tall and slender with a wide, steady base that feels secure in the hand and sits cleanly on the table.
Patricia recalls that it lived in the living room for years, always at the ready for meals and impromptu tastings, adding that it is “great for serving water at the table.” Rooted in her life between Paris and Provence, it reflects her preference for useful, well-made pieces that serve le quotidien with grace. From her personal collection, it is equally at home as a carafe for eau de table, for chilling cider or lemonade for an apéritif, or as a simple vase for a clipped bouquet from the potager. Set it where guests gather and it brings the convivial spirit of Chanteduc to everyday entertaining.
