Antique French brass scale weight

An antique French brass weight originally used with a set of balance scales, its substantial cylindrical body topped with a rounded handle for easy lifting. The surface has developed a warm, timeworn patina, with gentle scratches and traces of verdigris from years of use.

Found by Patricia and Walter at a local brocante, it was repurposed at Chanteduc as a practical doorstop against the powerful Mistral. Its simple, sculptural form makes it an appealing decorative object in its own right.
