Dating from the 1900s, this lovely French bust features a woman draped in Greek-key pattern clothing. Molded using régule which is made from an alloy of lead, copper and tin, giving it an appearance not dissimilar to bronze. This piece would make a lovely tabletop decoration resting on a stack of books or on a shelf to give your space a touch of French history and artisan craft. This may represent the sea nymph Galatea.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
