A charming French terracotta confit pot dating from the 19th century, traditionally used in the southwest of France for preserving foods. Hand-thrown with a pleasingly rounded body rising from a narrow foot and fitted with two ribbed loop handles, it embodies the rustic beauty of French provincial pottery.
The upper half is finished in a warm honey-ochre glaze, contrasting with the unglazed lower section that has acquired a beautifully weathered, chalky surface through decades of use. Two subtle olive-green glaze runs descend from the rim on one side, while a warm ochre run flows down the center of the body, giving the pot its distinctive personality. The glossy glaze is enriched with subtle tonal variations, pooling and flowing naturally around the upper body.
The handles retain a distinctive mineralized surface from years of handling and use, while the rim shows small chips and wear consistent with age. These timeworn details enhance its authentic character.
Equally beautiful displayed on its own or filled with seasonal branches, dried flowers, or fresh blooms (with a liner) this confit pot brings warmth, texture, and the enduring charm of the French countryside to both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
