A charming antique confit jar from southern France, hand-thrown in a classic ovoid form with a wide mouth and two small loop handles set at the shoulders. The upper body is coated in a warm honey-ochre glaze, enriched by darker, fluid drips that have fused onto the surface during firing, likely from adjacent pieces in the kiln. These organic trails gently curve, creating a subtle sense of movement.
The lower half, left unglazed, shows a beautifully weathered patina, with mottled earthen tones and traces of use that speak to its utilitarian past. The contrast between the glossy glazed upper section and the matte, timeworn base enhances its visual depth and rustic appeal. Small chips to the rim, scattered glaze losses, and surface wear consistent with age and use also contribute to its character.
It makes a striking standalone piece or can be used with a liner as a vase for simple, natural arrangements.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
